So, whenever I do a Linux video, you know what always comes up: do Slackware! Well, you asked for it, so here it comes, we're installing and exploring Slackware 1.1 from 53 floppy disks. This is my first exploration of Slackware from 1993, and we'll be trying to install all packages, exploring it, trying to get X working, and perhaps compile some retro computer goodness like NetHack. Coming in the earliest era of Linux, and the birth of Linux distributions, Slackware was created primarily to deal with he preserved buggyness of Softlanding, where Patrick Volkerding felt that redoing SLS to fix all the packaging mistakes would be less effort than making his own Linux distro, and thus Slackware was born. #slackware #retrocomputing #linux
